8-year-old AJ was only 4 years old when he was suddenly diagnosed with leukemia. After many treatments, he finally went into remission. Then in the summer of 2015 AJ had a relapse. It became very clear that the treatment wasn't working and that his only option was a transplant.
Unfortunately, none of his family members were matches so they turned to Be the Match. Be A Match is a national bone marrow donation organization that helps patients find donors that match their exact needs. This is where AJ was able to find his donor. Alexa 22-year-old college student from Ohio was able to save AJ's life.
Thanks to her kindness, AJ is now healthy cancer-free. Today, he's meeting his lifesaver for the first time in person on Good Morning America. What an amazing moment full of gratitude and joy.
