11-year-old Alec Gotto has had to overcome a lot of challenges in his life at such a young age. When he was 8 months old he became paralyzed due to a neurological disorder. Alec's disability has never held him back from doing the things he loves. And that includes showing Angus beef cattle in the Iowa State Fair.
Despite being in a wheelchair, this year Alec was able to lead his steer in the Governor's Charity Steer Show. As Alec rolled into the ring with his beloved steer named J.D. the audience exploded with energy and joy. They ended up giving Alec a standing ovation.
The crowd's hearts were touched by Alec's perseverance amidst all of his health challenges. His courage even won him the People's Choice Award at the show. How incredible is that?! This is such an encouraging story of how we can still find joy despite our struggles. Way to go Alec!
