Marleen Brooks opened her mailbox one evening and found something that changed the entire course of her life. Marleen had recieved a letter from a 90-year-old woman pleading to make friend. The letter was written by Wanda Mills who lives a few doors down from Marleen. Marleen was shocked at what Wanda wrote in the letter.
Wanda wrote that all her friends had died and that she was very lonely and scared. In the letter she asked Marleen if she could be her friend. Reading the letter broke Marleen's heart. The very next day she went over to Wanda's house and they became instant friends. Wanda is now in a nursing home but Marleen still visits her at least four times a week. Wanda is so grateful for the company and says that God sent Marleen at just the right time.
When Wanda wrote the letter she didn't really expect Marleen to reply buy boy is she glad she did. Marleen's experience with Wanda lit a spark in her to help other seniors in the same situation. Recently, she started a group called Pen Pals For Seniors to help more seniors feel less alone.
What an amazing story of God's faithfulness. Who was tearing up after listening to this story? I sure was!
