Erez is a sweet, 8-year-old boy. He also happens to be covered in moles because of a rare disorder. Sadly, sometimes people stare or even make fun of him because of it. Naturally, his mom, Ruthi, can't stand such cruel behavior. And when rude strangers recently mocked her son's moles, she came up with an awesome way to cheer Erez up. And folks around the internet love it so much, they are joining in, too!

A Rare Condition

Erez was born with Congenital Melanocytic Naevus. It's a rare condition in which his body produces too much melanin. As a result, he was born with moles covering his body, including a huge mole on his back.

Doctors worried that Ruthi would be upset about her baby boy's appearance, so they covered him in blankets. All that was exposed was his face. But as you'd expect with any loving parents, Ruthi and her husband weren't shocked or bothered by Erez's appearance at all. They loved him just the way God made him!

But Erez's condition is more than superficial.

The boy's moles are internal, as well. They are on his spine and even his brain, which has caused epileptic seizures. Erez also has scoliosis.

Erez endured multiple surgeries, and took some time to recovery. But as he grew, so did his bright personality!

Cruelty From Strangers

Naturally, Ruthi is protective of her son. It drives her crazy when people point and stare at her son just because he looks different. But she also understands it comes with the territory.

"I got used to people staring at you, the comments behind our back. The sad fact is that no matter how much we talk of inclusion and acceptance the different remains excluded and will always draw attention," she said. "Sometimes it is even amusing."

General curiosity is one thing. Bullying is another, though.

"But it is hard for me when people are just mean," Ruthi went on to say. "How can someone laugh about you my beloved son?"

One day, while Ruthi and Erez were out and about, a little girl looked Erez and made a cruel joke to her mother. As if that wasn't bad enough, the girl's mom started laughing with her!

Erez was embarassed, and Ruthi was livid. She assured Erez that he was beautiful. And then she had an idea. Ruthi asked Erez to paint dots on her face so that she would look like him. He was smiling in no time, and the two started taking selfies together.

A Flood Of Support

Ruthi uploaded some of their pictures to Facebook, along with the story of how the rude strangers had mocked her son's moles. And what happened next will restore your faith in humanity!

Ruthi's post went viral, and messages of support poured in. From all over, strangers started posting photos of themselves covered in dots, using the hashtag "Friends of Erez." The show of solidarity warmed Ruthi's heart.

And Erez's story serves as an important reminder for us all. While we will always be adversity -- especially those society sees as "different" -- there is still plenty of kindness left in this world!
