You're always in my heart.

Parenting is tough. Any way you slice it - it's hard. Whether you're together, or a single parent or blending a family - the struggles never cease. I know first hand. My husband and I have been 'blending' our 4 children for several years and every day is a new day...Praise God! So, that's what makes this Dad's story / confession so real and sweet at the same time. Read on.

This is what one dad wrote:

"I'm a single dad with shared custody of my 10 year-old twins (boy/girl). My son is low-functioning autistic and weekday mornings can be tough to get us all out the door on time for work/school. I recently had a particularly tough morning with my son, and later sent a text to my daughter reminding her that she means a lot to me despite the fact that her brother requires extra attention. Check out her reply. Oh, the feels."

Do you ever find yourself saying to God..."Hey I'm sorry I can't spend a lot of time with YOU right now because { fill in the blank }." It's easy to put our spouse, our children, our job, our neighbors, our worries, and our finances ALL first. But if we would put GOD 1st - all of those areas in our life would be more peaceful and would be in order. In our house, we call that 'right-sized'...meaning I have my priorities in order.

Philippians 4:6 teaches us, "In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."

He's waiting. Patiently. For you.

This Christian dad responds to sky lantern message from a grieving daughter.
